TRIPLE JUMP

Hop-Step and jump: This is also known as Triple Jump. The triple jump shall be so made that the competitor first lands upon the foot with which he took off, in the next step he shall land on the other foot from which consequently the long jump is performed.
Techniques of Hop-Step and Triple Jump
  • · The approach
  • · The take-off
  • · The step
  • · The jump
The approach: Like long jump the approach is made by a run of 35-40 meters with the first check mark at the starting point and the second at 15 meters from the take- for the step.
The take-off: As one step is to be taken at the take-off the objective is not to gain the maximum but it is to maintain speed while remaining over the jumping leg so as to distribute the momentum over the step, and the jump. A competitor should p0ractice a long hope on his strong hopping leg in such a manner that after the hop he steps with the take-off foot in front.
The step: The step is so taken that it is a glide over to the other foot, i.e., the take-off foot. The feeling should be that of floating in the air and not of walking or running.
The jump: The last phase is the jump. The jumping action is the same ads in the long jump except that the distance is covered in three steps.
