Discus Throw
Introduced by Greeks in Ancient Olympics the modern Discus Throw has undergone a lot of changes in the rules of event, its arena and even the technique. The event requires a well developed body, large, strong hands, long arms and perfect agility. Like other field events it requires proper neuromuscular coordination of very high order to be good Discuss Throw.
Techniques of Discus Throw

  • · The Reverse
The Grip: The Discus is held in hand in such a fashion that palm of hand is over it with first joints of the fingers turned to grip the edges of the Discus. The thumps is spread away to balance the Discus.
The Pivot: The athlete with the Discus in hand stands at the rear of the circle keeping the feet apart. The foot is placed on the imaginary line on throw and left foot slightly to the right of this line. The weight of the body is taken by the right foot. The skill of throwing involves a lot of practice and actions required are as detailed in the pictures.
The Reverse: The recovery after the Discuss Throw is similar to that of putting the shot. In this also the feet are reversed to help to again balance of the body after the throw and to avoid stepping out of the circle.
